Choosing a Massage

Relaxation vs. Deep Tissue Massage: Which One Is Right for You?

Two of the most popular massages we offer look similar on paper but do very different things. Here's how to pick the one your body actually needs.

What is a relaxation massage?

A relaxation massage uses long, flowing strokes and light-to-medium pressure to calm your nervous system. The goal isn't to dig into a specific problem area, it's to lower stress, improve circulation and give you a full hour of genuine rest. If you've been running on empty, sleeping poorly, or just need to switch off, this is usually the right call.

What is a deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage uses firmer, sustained pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It's designed to release chronic knots, break down adhesions and ease pain that lighter massage glides right over. A little next-day soreness is normal and usually fades within a day or two.

How to choose

Choose relaxation if you're stressed, tired and want to unwind. Choose deep tissue if you have a specific tight spot, chronic tension, or muscle pain that keeps coming back. Still not sure? Tell your therapist how you're feeling at the start of your session and they'll adjust the pressure and focus to suit you.

Both are available in 30, 60, 90 and 120-minute sessions. You can see full details and pricing on our services page.
